Zia Planning Systems provides several training options in the area of zoning code enforcement:
HALF DAY SURVEY: This 1/2 day course offers a survey of the philosophical underpinnings of holistic zoning enforcement, as well as general strategies and approaches to particular situations. There is no field component to this class. COST: $200.00 plus expenses.
ONE DAY (4 hours classroom, 4 hours field): The one-day seminar gives your staff the basics of the system, and demonstrates the initial contact with the property owner. COST: $400.00 plus expenses.
ONE WEEK (20 hours classroom, 20 hours field): The one-week training program puts in the entire system, from investigation of the complaint, negotiating a compliance date, monitoring of the case, and closing the file. Field training includes live interaction with actual property owners, where your staff will use the negotiation skills learned in class. COST: $2,000.00 plus expenses.
TWO WEEKS (40 hours classroom, 40 hours field): The two-week training practicum offers a more comprehensive approach. A higher level of detail is presented. As well, dealing with intractable "lost cause" enforcement situations are discussed. Field training includes using the classroom training to steer the discussion on those lost causes and actually getting them to voluntarily comply. COST: $4,000.00 plus expenses.
TRAIN THE TRAINER is for professional planners who want to learn the system - either to train their staff or to set up your own profitable training program. COST: Variable and negotiable. Call for details!
